Artclear Qualifies as an Active Member with Gallery Climate Coalition

Artclear has successfully qualified as a 2022 Active Member with the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC). To achieve Active status we had to demonstrate that our organisation had implemented environmental sustainability best practice in line with GCC guidance.

The GCC is an international community of arts organisations working to reduce our sector's environmental impacts. In joining the GCC, Artclear has pledged to support the GCC's mission to reduce the art sector's greenhouse gas emissions by at least 50% by 2030 and to promote zero-waste practices. These 2030 targets are rapidly approaching, and effective action is more urgent than ever.

Our Environmental Responsibility Statement sets out our commitments to reduce the environmental impact of Artclear’s activities and the actions we are taking to address it. We have set these targets and are taking actions in the knowledge that we aren’t yet doing everything right. We still have a great deal to do and much to learn. You can read the statement here.

Active Membership is not a certification of sustainability nor a claim that we are doing things perfectly or have all the answers – none of us are at this point. We’re all doing our best to assess, report and reduce our impact, setting targets in line with science, taking any actions we can and working out other solutions as we go.

We encourage all of our peers and colleagues to visit the GCC’s website to learn more about the initiative and how to get involved.

"As the Green Ambassador for Artclear in the GCC, I'm thrilled to be part of this international effort to make the art world more sustainable."
Grace MacKeith, Green Ambassador, Marketing Executive
